Not long now!

Staff Staff (Smawthorneblog) on: Year 2

We have all been working really hard this week in 2B.

We enjoyed doing our Big Write today. We retold the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We tried hard to use interesting vocabulary, adventurous suffixes, and different types of sentences.

Lots of children have also been bringing in their fantastic homework projects. We have had PowerPoint presentations, fire safety posters and wonderful baking instructions.

Please remember it is our Reading SATs next week!

Art, sun safety, and PE

Staff Staff (Smawthorneblog) on: Year 2

Hello! We have had another lovely week in Year 2.

Last week we had a lovely time doing art work with Miss Shaw. It was our last week! We painted the clay models that we made with her last week.

We also learnt about sun safety from a special visitor.

Some things we learnt about sun safety are:

  • Children need high factor sun cream (SPF 30 or higher).
  • Wearing your cap backwards helps protect your neck from the sun.
  • Drink lots of water so that you don't get dehydrate.

Today we had an outdoor PE lesson in the sunshine! We played with the javelins, hurdles, skipping ropes, footballs and egg and spoons! We are using them to start practicing for Sports Day!

Please remember it is our Reading SATs next week!

Any extra reading practice would be helpful.

Another busy week!

Staff Staff (Smawthorneblog) on: Year 2

We have had another very busy week in 2B! Here are some of the things the children want to share with you.

In our Maths lessons, we have been looking at giving and following directions. We looked at making right and left turns, both clockwise and anti-clockwise.

In Big Write we imagined we were fire fighters! We all tried really hard to use interesting vocabulary, adverbs, conjunctions punctuation.

We have been continuing our work on the Great Fire of London. We learnt that the houses were so close together, you could lean out of your windows and shake hands with the person living across the street!

Miss Shaw came to work with us again! We did some painting, clay modelling, sketching and practiced our cutting skills. We even got to go outside and so some sketching in the lovely sunshine!

We are all working really hard in the run-up to our SATs!

An exciting week!

Staff Staff (Smawthorneblog) on: Year 2

In 2B we have been very busy this week!

On Wednesday, Samuel Pepys came in to work with us. He taught us about the Great Fire of London, and answered some of our questions. He was very funny and he made us laugh lots!

On Thursday we worked with Miss Shaw. It was exciting! We practiced our drawing, cutting, shading and sketching skills. She said that if we were good, next week we will get to do some painting!

Mrs Dixon also gave us an extra play time because we worked so hard in our Maths SATs.

Miss Buckley has been very impressed with the creative projects that have come in so far. She is looking forward to seeing some more!
