Religious Education
The aims of our curriculum is:
- To develop pupils’ knowledge and understanding of Christianity and other principal religions.
- To encourage our children to learn from different religions, beliefs, values and traditions whilst exploring their own beliefs and questioning new principles.
- To develop the children’s sense of identity and belonging.
- To enable children to show respect and be sensitive to others, in particular those whose faiths and beliefs are different from their own.
- To promote children's spiritual, moral, social and cultural development.
- To provide an enriching insight into the wonderful world around them.
- To engage with people of different cultures and religions both in school and within our local community.
- To understand how religion affects society today and impacts on our everyday life.
- Smawthorne Henry Moore Primary School adopts the Wakefield Local Authority Religious Education syllabus.
