Our School History

Timeline

 1914 - School opened on Monday October 5^th named Glasshoughton New Council Schools. Later this became Castleford Ashton Road Council Schools.

 1914  - Infants Department Mixed Department – Juniors and Seniors.

 1920  – Reorganised to open a separate Senior Girls Department.

 1930  - Junior, Mixed and Senior Boys Department.

 1939  –  Senior Boys and Girls Department amalgamated.

 1970 – On site on Ashton Road was a separate Infants, Junior Mixed and Senior Mixed.

 1976   – Reorganised to Smawthorne First and Smawthorne Middle Schools due to the introduction of Comprehensive Education.

 2002  – Smawthorne Infants amalgamated with Henry Moore Juniors to become Smawthorne Henry Moore Primary School.
